The Asociación Española de Criadores Cerdo Ibérico (Aeceriber) and the I+D Center in Cerdo Ibérico (Inia-CSIC) have organized for next November 26, at the Deutz Business School center in Zafra, the technical session "From the Field to Excellence: Science, Dehesa and Tradition at the La Contienda Farm," a professional forum aimed at bringing the sector the latest developments in research, innovation and production systems for Iberian pigs.

As Aeceriber has noted in a press release, the meeting will bring together researchers, technicians, livestock farmers and representatives from leading companies in the sector, who will address essential issues related to genetics, meat quality, the porcine microbiome, animal welfare in extensive systems and the sustainability of the dehesa.

The program includes presentations by experts from the Universidad de Extremadura, Inia-CSIC, the Fundación Cajasol and the Diputación de Córdoba, who will present results from work developed at the La Contienda Farm, located in the province of Huelva.

In the second part of the session, the challenges and opportunities of field fattening will be analyzed through a roundtable in which representatives from Beher, Joselito, Asici and Covap will take part, under the title "Beyond the Rules: Productive and Commercial Keys of Field Fattening."

The session will be inaugurated by the mayor of Zafra, Juan Carlos Fernández Calderón, and the president of Aeceriber, Lucía Maesso Corral, while the closing will be handled by representatives of the Consejería de Agricultura, Ganadería y Medio Natural.

With this proposal, the organizers intend to strengthen the transfer of knowledge between the scientific field and professionals, with the aim of boosting the competitiveness, sustainability and future outlook of Iberian pigs.
