The Government delegate in Madrid, Francisco Martín, assured this Wednesday that the explanations offered by the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, regarding the acquisition of the attic in Chamberí constitute, in his view, "such blatant lies" that are unacceptable "no matter how much of a PP voter one is."
"No matter how much of a PP voter one is, there is no citizen of the Community of Madrid who can swallow the such blatant lies that the president of the Community of Madrid is hurling at us day after day regarding this matter," Martín stated in remarks to the media from San Sebastián de los Reyes.
The representative of the central Government referred to the attic acquired by the regional Executive on General Martínez Campos Avenue, which the public company Planifica Madrid has subsequently put up for sale with a starting price of 6.7 million euros, along with four other properties located on Gran Vía, with the aim of "helping in the reconstruction" after the serious fire recorded in the Sierra Oeste.
According to the regional Government, the initial forecast was for this property to function as a provisional office for Ayuso while works were being carried out at the Real Casa de Correos, the official headquarters of the Presidency of the Community of Madrid.
Martín has outright rejected the explanations provided by the regional Executive and has described the operation as "truly regrettable" and "serious," even calling for the dissolution of the regional Government due to the management of this case.
The purchase of this attic in Chamberí has been harshly questioned by left-wing parties, who have taken the matter to the courts and have demanded the resignation of the president, whom they accuse of trying to acquire an "official residence."
Meanwhile, the regional Government maintains that it has already provided all the pertinent explanations regarding the operation and denies that the property was intended for Ayuso's personal use. The president has criticized the opposition's attempts to "stir up and entangle" by linking the purchase to a residence intended for her private life.
In this regard, Ayuso has denied this claim on numerous occasions and argues that it would be "unwise" for them to look for a house that she could not "hide" and asserts that with this attic there has been an intention to "cause harm." "It is for sale. Bye, fish," she concluded.
On his side, the counselor of the Presidency, Justice and Local Administration, Miguel Ángel García Martín, has requested to appear at his own request before the Plenary of the Assembly of Madrid to inform in detail about the asset management of Planifica Madrid.
