The spokesperson of the Consell, Miguel Barrachina, has censured the "avalanche" recorded this Friday in Ceuta during the transfer of migrants from the settlements of the beaches of Trampolín and Benítez to the provisional reception resource set up by the Government at the Muelle de Poniente of the Port. At the same time, he has demanded that the central Executive act to "maintain order and calm" in the autonomous city.
"Ceuta continues to be a city in which Spain, as a sovereign nation, has lost the ability to maintain order and calm in a Spanish city," the regional official stated at the beginning of the press conference following the plenary session of the Consell this Friday, held in Alicante.
Barrachina also took the opportunity to thank the European Parliament for "the triple support that our country received." "First, highlighting the obvious that Ceuta is part of Spain. Second, that what happened is not a migratory problem, but a programmed invasion. And third, that this is part of the pull effect of the policies of the Government of Spain and its massive regularization," he expressed.
In addition, "in the same way" that he thanked the support to Spain and to the people of Ceuta from the European Parliament, he lamented that Spanish socialist MEPs "did not support it."
"It is enormously striking, because we have a Government at the end of its term dedicated to ensuring that those who do not live in Spain can vote, because those who are in Spain, as they have demonstrated in Andalusia, Aragon, Extremadura, and Castilla y León, have turned their backs on the current Government," he asserted following the suspension of the 'grandchildren's law' by the Supreme Court.
With all that, he has demanded that the central Executive "pay more attention to Spaniards, and in this case to the people of Ceuta, and less pretending that those who do not live in Spain and who, in their case, in many occasions will never come to Spain, decide in the elections for us."
