Abanca closed the first half of the year with a net profit of 386 million euros, which represents a decrease of 9.6% compared to the same period of the previous year, as a consequence of the increase in the effective tax rate derived from the lower use of tax credits.

Before taxes, the financial entity reached earnings of 501 million euros, 3.7% higher, as emphasized by its president, Juan Carlos Escotet, and the CEO, Francisco Botas, during the results presentation held this Monday.

The return on equity (ROTE) stood at 12.2%, maintaining a wide margin over the cost of capital.

In these first six months, the bank has added more than 77,000 new customers in Spain and Portugal, of which 71% come from areas different from its home market.
