Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), the American semiconductor manufacturer, has managed this Monday to surpass for the first time the barrier of one trillion dollars (870 billion euros) in market capitalization, after an intense bullish streak that allows it to join the small group of companies that exceed that value in the market.

Throughout the session this Monday, AMD's shares have risen by 9.5% to stand at 612.80 dollars, compared to 559.82 dollars at the close of last Friday.

In the last seven days, the technology company's shares have accumulated an increase close to 25%, while in the last six months the advance reaches 204%, in a scenario dominated by the strong pull of the semiconductor industry and artificial intelligence.

Between April and June, AMD obtained a net profit of 2.297 billion dollars (2 billion euros), more than triple the 872 million dollars (760 million euros) recorded in the same period of the previous fiscal year, while increasing its revenues by 50% year-on-year, to 11.536 billion dollars (10.060 billion euros).

"In general terms, AI is driving a significant expansion of computing demand across all our markets, and our leading product portfolio and the growing visibility of our customers position us exceptionally well to take advantage of this growing opportunity and achieve substantial revenue and profit growth in the coming years," said then AMD's president and CEO, Lisa Su.

Additionally, in July the company announced an investment of 5 billion dollars (4.380 billion euros) in the AI startup Anthropic, as part of a framework agreement under which Anthropic will supply two gigawatts (GW) of its AMD Instinct MI450 Series graphics processing units (GPUs) integrated into AMD Helios solutions for rack mounting.

Currently, Nvidia remains the publicly traded company with the highest market capitalization in the world, with 5.43 trillion dollars (4.7 trillion euros), followed by Apple, with 4.92 trillion dollars (4.3 trillion euros), and Alphabet, Google's parent company, with 4.32 trillion dollars (3.7 trillion euros).
