The general secretaries of CCOO and UGT, Unai Sordo and Pepe Álvarez, will hold this Wednesday a meeting with spokespeople from dozens of social groups that back and have joined the call for a general strike scheduled for November 11.

The meeting aims to address in detail the reasons that have led the organizing organizations to promote this day of protest and to share the main demands that give meaning to the call.

At the meeting, coordination between the trade union movement and the various social platforms will also be sought, with a view to broadening public support for the strike day.

Among the more than 100 organizations that have already shown their support for the strike are neighborhood associations, groups in defense of public education and healthcare, environmentalist groups, and feminist organizations, among others. At least two dozen of these entities will take part in the meeting to convey their concerns and reiterate their support for the general strike.

The meeting will also serve to move forward in the organization of the initiatives and actions that will be carried out in the coming days, in order to explain to the public the reasons for the call and to continue adding new supporters.
