The president of CEOE, Antonio Garamendi, has dedicated an emotional farewell to the former minister and president of the CEOE Foundation, Fátima Báñez, who died in the railway accident in Urda (Toledo). In his message, the business leader pays tribute to her with words of affection toward someone he considers "one of the most generous people" he has had the opportunity to meet.

"There are farewells for which words are never enough. Fátima was one of the most generous people I have known. A wise and loyal adviser and a dear friend, with whom I had the privilege of sharing work, hopes, and a deep friendship," Garamendi underscores in his message in memory of Báñez.

The top leader of the employers' association has highlighted that he will always remember her vitalist and optimistic character. "That way of getting excited about every project, of celebrating what was achieved and of making us feel that helping others was the best reason to smile," the business leader pointed out, who has likewise conveyed all his affection to the relatives of the former minister.

"Thank you for so much, Fátima. What luck to have shared part of the journey with you," concludes the business leader's message.

The business organization CEOE, like the Partido Popular, has set up a book of condolences at its headquarters to pay tribute to the former minister and president of its Foundation.

The death of Fátima Báñez, 59, was confirmed this Thursday and her burial will take place this Friday in her hometown, San Juan del Puerto (Huelva), by "express wish of the family".

Báñez was traveling on the Iryo train that was struck by a Renfe AVE train early last Wednesday and, after several hours of uncertainty about her whereabouts, the official confirmation of her death came yesterday.
