The Brazilian manager Patria Investments and the Colombian subsidiary of the British Ashmore Group have reached an agreement to transfer the solar macroplant "Puerta de Oro" to Isagén, a company dedicated to the generation and marketing of electricity based in Medellín (Antioquia).
According to what the head of infrastructure of Patria in Colombia, Pablo Cano, declared to "Bloomberg", the purchase agreement was signed last week and the payment will be made entirely in cash, without the total amount of the operation being disclosed. Currently, the Brazilian firm controls 75% of "Puerta de Oro", while Ashmore holds the remaining 25%.
The photovoltaic plant, considered one of the largest in Colombia, has an installed capacity of 360 MW and a total of 511,000 panels, with the capacity to supply electricity to more than 390,000 homes. Its development was financed by Bancolombia, Banco de Bogotá, Banco de Occidente, and Financiera de Desarrollo Nacional for one trillion Colombian pesos (275.7 million euros).
Cano has pointed out that Isagén fits as the ideal buyer of "Puerta de Oro", as it is an actor that already operates in the Colombian electricity market and because solar generation complements its hydroelectric portfolio during drought periods.
