The until now maximum responsible for Cercanías Madrid, Sonia Ferrero, will leave her position and will be replaced by Aida Rozalén, until now manager of the Public Service area of Renfe in the Basque Country, as decided this Thursday by the operator's management committee.

After this change in the leadership of Cercanías, Ferrero will assume new functions related to the area of tourist trains, as "Artículo 14" has reported and sources from the railway sector have confirmed to Europa Press.

In parallel, the new director, Aida Rozalén, has extensive experience in the railway field, where she has held various positions, from train driver to management responsibilities in different departments.

These movements in the management structure occur a few weeks after the high-capacity Standler trains acquired by Renfe for Cercanías Madrid had to return to the workshop to make "adjustments and improvements" to these models.

Specifically, the first two high-capacity trains were incorporated on August 24 to the C-7 line of Cercanías after having passed the relevant homologation, commercial simulations, and tests under different conditions, while a third unit joined on the 31st.

These units had to be temporarily withdrawn from service to carry out software updates and changes in different systems of the train, such as braking signaling and passenger information equipment, before returning to circulation a few weeks later.
