The Bloque Nacionalista Galego (BNG) holds that the resignation of the Transport minister, Óscar Puente, is "logical" because, in its view, it was in reality "the only possible decision" following the two accidents on the high-speed rail network that have caused 116 deaths in just nine months.

So have indicated sources from the nationalist group after Puente communicated in the Permanent Deputation of Congress that he has decided to leave his post in the Executive and that he is also no longer a candidate of the PSOE in the general elections on the coming day 29.

In any case, from the BNG they have stressed that, once Puente’s departure has taken place, what is essential is that the person who assumes the Transport portfolio adopt effective measures to strengthen and ensure rail safety.
