The Bureau of Economic Analysis of the Department of Commerce of the United States has confirmed in its second estimate the growth of the gross domestic product (GDP) of the country during the second quarter, maintaining an annualized advance of 1.5%, equivalent to a quarterly rebound of 0.4%.

This record reflects a moderation of 0.4 points compared to the first quarter, when the U.S. economy had expanded its activity at a rate of 2.1%.

Among the elements that boosted GDP in the second quarter are higher consumer spending, improved exports, and increased investment, although these supports were partly offset by a cut in public spending.

In comparison with the performance of the economy in the first three months of the year, this second segment has been marked by a reduction in government spending and a loss of dynamism both in investment and in sales abroad, factors that have been only partially compensated by greater dynamism in private consumption.

On the other hand, the Department of Commerce has reported that the PCE price index, a benchmark indicator for the Federal Reserve (Fed) when assessing inflation, has increased by 0.2% compared to the preliminary data from the previous month, reaching 3.6%.
