The provisional tariff deficit of the electricity system, arising when the recognized costs of regulated activities exceed the income from tolls, stood at 571.064 million euros in the eighth liquidation of the fiscal year, corresponding to the month of August.

In this liquidation, total system income amounted to 9,703.62 million euros, compared with recognized costs of 10,274.69 million euros, according to data published by the Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia (CNMC).

During the month, temporary mismatches were recorded between the income and costs of the electricity system, within the framework of what is provided for in article 19 of Law 24/2013, of December 26. As a result, the accumulated liquidation charged to the electricity sector was conditioned by a coverage coefficient of 93.70%. Demand in consumption reached 141,759 gigawatt hours (GWh).

According to the regulator, the total amount settled between January 1 and August 31 of this year amounted to 3,888.89 million euros.

Of that amount, 3,842.41 million euros were paid charged to the electricity sector itself, while 46.48 million euros came from the General State Budget (PGE), corresponding to 50% of the specific remuneration of installations located in non-peninsular territories.

In this same month, the temporary mismatches between income and costs of the electricity system, contemplated in article 19 of Law 24/2013, of December 26, were repeated, so that the accumulated liquidation charged to the system was likewise affected by a coverage coefficient of 93.70% and the amount to be paid on account to the producers rose to 561.23 million euros.

For the payment of the part corresponding to the installations located in non-peninsular territories, as of the closing date of this liquidation, sufficient funds from the Public Treasury had been received to pay 100% of this concept, with an amount to be disbursed of 5.45 million euros.
