The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has announced the start of the surface rehabilitation works of the pavement at junction 318, which connects the A-2 motorway with the A-68 in the province of Zaragoza. These works will begin next Monday, July 20, and will involve partial traffic cuts on several branches of the junction.

The implementation of these actions is part of a conservation and operation project for the A-2 motorway, in the section between Calatayud and Alfajarín. This contract, endowed with a budget of 23.06 million euros, aims to improve the condition of the pavement to increase its regularity and resistance to abrasion, extending its useful life and reinforcing road safety.

To carry out the works, the Ministry has established a diversion device that will be executed in phases and whose schedules will be adjusted to the weather forecasts, in order to protect workers from heat waves.

Phases of the planned cuts and diversions

In phase 1A, the entry branch to the collector road of the A-2 towards Madrid from exit 244B of the A-68 will be closed, in addition to the closure of the exit branch from the collector road of the A-2 towards Barcelona to Delicias and El Portillo.

During phase 1B, the exit branch 318 from the A-2 towards Madrid to Delicias and El Portillo will be closed, limitations that could temporarily coincide with those of the previous phase. Next, in phase two, the access branch to the collector road of the A-2 towards Madrid and to the A-2 towards Barcelona from exit 243 of the A-68 towards Logroño will be interrupted.

The ministerial department has provided alternative routes, properly signposted, to maintain circulation under adequate conditions.

Due to the high volume of traffic at this point, the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) anticipates possible delays during peak hours. Therefore, it will inform about the situation in real time through the variable message panels located on the road network.
