Volotea will noticeably increase its presence in Madrid starting on November 27, nearly doubling its capacity thanks to the expansion of its network of domestic destinations. The airline will add three new direct routes with Barcelona, Granada and A Coruña, and will launch a fourth connection with Córdoba starting on December 4, which are added to the links with Sevilla and Málaga announced the previous week.

With this expansion, the company will incorporate 1,800 additional flights to the 2,200 initially scheduled from the capital between January 2026 and March 2027. In total, it will operate 715,000 seats in that period, after adding 335,000 extra places, in a context marked by the recent rail accident in Urda (Toledo) that has led to the closure of the Madrid–Sevilla line.

To absorb this increase in operations, the airline detailed in a statement that it will permanently base two 180-seat aircraft each at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, which will allow it to maintain the increase in frequencies planned.

As for the number of flights, the routes with Barcelona and Sevilla will have two daily connections. For its part, the links with Málaga, Granada and A Coruña will offer one daily frequency. The Madrid–Córdoba connection, which has not been operated for four decades, will return with four weekly flights.

"At Volotea, we are committed to improving connections between the different regions of Spain. And with these new routes from Madrid, we complement the existing options at a moment that we believe is very necessary, and we help to strengthen the capital’s connectivity with Andalusia, Galicia and Catalonia," said its General Director of Strategy, Gabriel Schmilovich.

In addition to these announcements, the company this Friday inaugurated the Madrid–Santander route, with which it will go on to link Madrid with a total of eight destinations within national territory.

The scheduling from the capital is completed with an international offer that includes flights to the French cities of Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon, Montpellier, Nantes and Toulouse, as well as to the Italian cities of Genoa, Ancona and Olbia.
