Elecciones generales del 29 de noviembre · Demócrata

The president of the PP and candidate for La Moncloa, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has decided that his MEP and deputy secretary of Sectoral Coordination, Alma Ezcurra, will occupy the number four position on the candidacy for Madrid to Congress in the elections on November 29. At the same time, the deputy mayor of the capital, Inmaculada Sanz, will be the number two on the list for the Senate for this constituency, according to sources from 'popular' that have informed Europa Press.

The current president of the Senate and former mayor of Torrejón, Pedro Rollán, will repeat as the head of the list of the Popular Party to the Upper House, just like in the general elections of July 23, 2023, the same sources have confirmed.

After Rollán, Feijóo has placed Inmaculada Sanz, deputy mayor and spokesperson for the Madrid City Council in the Consistory presided over by José Luis Martínez Almeida, on the Senate candidacy for Madrid.

The leader of the PP has chosen to surround himself with leaders with extensive experience in institutional management in view of a possible arrival at the Palace of La Moncloa and, for that purpose, has incorporated both regional councilors and numerous sitting mayors into his lists.

Alma Ezcurra will coordinate the electoral program of the PP

For now, the PP has made public that the list for Madrid to Congress headed by Feijóo will have as number two the spokesperson for the Popular Group in the Lower House, Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo, and that the number three will again be for the national spokesperson of the party and deputy secretary of Culture, Borja Sémper.

This Saturday, the party announced that the PP MEP Alma Ezcurra will leave her seat in Brussels to join the candidacy for Madrid to Congress in the fourth position. Ezcurra is also the person chosen by Feijóo to coordinate the electoral program that the party will present for the November elections.

Additionally, sources from the PP have informed Europa Press that the deputy secretary of Economy of the party, Alberto Nadal, will also join the list for Madrid to Congress for the general elections, although it has not yet been specified what position he will occupy.

Nadal (Madrid, 1970) was a senior official in the previous PP Executives. When Mariano Rajoy arrived at La Moncloa in 2011, he appointed him Secretary of State for Energy and, later, in his second term, he became Secretary of State for Budgets and Expenditures.

In July of last year, after the announcement of his signing by Feijóo, he left the position he held in the US to join the national leadership of the PP as head of Economy and Sustainable Development.

Mar Sánchez and Marta Varela, in the Madrid candidacy

It is also expected that two of Feijóo's closest collaborators will be integrated into the list for Madrid: Marta Varela, his Chief of Staff, and Mar Sánchez, who has been working alongside the leader of the PP for three decades. Both were already part of this candidacy in the general elections of 2023.

Feijóo has placed most of his inner circle as 'number ones' to Congress for their respective provinces, following the scheme from three years ago: Miguel Tellado (A Coruña), Cuca Gamarra (Logroño), Ester Muñoz (León), Elías Bendodo (Málaga), Juan Bravo (Sevilla), and Carmen Fúnez (Ciudad Real). Alicia García, spokesperson in the Upper House, heads the PP list for the Senate for Ávila.
