The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested a 28-year-old woman in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona) as the alleged responsible for offenses of bodily harm, professional intrusion, and against public health, by attributing to her the performance of a full liposuction in an apartment in the town, as detailed this Friday by the police force in a statement.
The arrest was carried out last Thursday, October 22, within an investigation opened after a woman had to receive medical attention for injuries resulting from an allegedly irregular aesthetic procedure.
The origin of the case dates back to September 20, when an Urgent Primary Care Center of Barcelona (CUAP) alerted the Mossos that a patient had explained that, during the previous early morning, she had undergone a liposuction and a subsequent fat infiltration in the buttocks in an apartment in L'Hospitalet.
The affected woman, who was transferred to a hospital due to the severity of the injuries, stated that she had paid for the procedure but that, once it was finished, she did not receive the medication or the medical follow-up that had been assured to her and that, moreover, it was impossible for her to locate the person who had carried out the liposuction.
Police investigation and scope of the facts
During the inquiries, the Mossos verified that the victim had paid 670 euros to different accounts and to people linked to the suspect's circle and that, according to medical reports, she presented numerous incised wounds in various parts of the body, extensive bruising, and injuries compatible with the onset of an infectious condition.
Likewise, in the course of the investigation it could not be established that the alleged perpetrator, who appeared voluntarily at a police station on October 22, at which time she was arrested, had the academic training or the professional authorization required to carry out this type of surgical procedures.
The investigators have found indications that the woman could have offered these aesthetic treatments in Barcelona, Valencia and Alicante, using homes or temporary accommodations to carry out the activity, and they do not rule out that new affected victims may appear.
