At least three members of the Colombian Army have lost their lives and another eight have been injured after an attack with drones loaded with explosives in the south of the department of Bolívar, in the northwestern area of the country, according to information released this Saturday by the military authorities.

After the assault, the top military command has put into motion the security protocols provided for and has ordered a wide deployment in the area to assess the impact of the attack and try to identify the material and intellectual authors.

The Colombian president, Abelardo de la Espriella, has reacted immediately on his social networks to condemn what happened and has underscored that "they will not be intimidated or back down" in the face of the recent escalation of attacks against his Armed Forces.

"To those behind this attack, I say with absolute clarity: they will have no hiding place and no ceasefire. We are going to pursue them with all the legitimate force of the State until we dismantle their criminal organizations and bring them before justice," the head of State has warned.

The head of government has also sent a message to the entire citizenry, emphasizing that "each attack against his soldiers strengthens their resolve to defend" Colombia.

"We are not going to cede a single inch of territory to terrorism. In the miraculous homeland, terrorism has no place and authority is respected," he added in his public statement.

According to what Caracol Radio has detailed, in the affected area there is an intense mobilization of personnel while the medical evacuation of the most seriously injured is being coordinated to the nearest hospitals.

The same network points out that this armed action would have taken place as retaliation for a recent capture carried out in this sector of the country, a region known for its high mining activity.
