The Ministry of Justice and Public Security has definitively dismissed former deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro, son of former president Jair Bolsonaro, from his position in the Federal Police for abandonment of duties. This is a sanction proposed by the police corporation itself, but whose ultimate competence belonged to the ministry.
The resolution was made public this Monday through the official bulletin, which states a "disciplinary infraction of abandonment of position (...) for being absent from work without justification for a period exceeding 30 consecutive days".
With this dismissal, the administrative disciplinary procedure initiated by the Federal Police concludes, after Eduardo Bolsonaro did not return to his activity in the body once the leave situation that allowed him to exercise his mandate in the Chamber of Deputies ended.
The already former police officer, who secured his first seat in 2014, was removed from the lower house in December 2025 due to his repeated absences, after he left Brazil in March of that same year to settle in the United States.
The Supreme Court sentenced him last June to more than four years in prison, in a semi-liberty regime, in addition to imposing an eight-year political disqualification, considering him responsible for attempting to pressure magistrates and coordinating, from the United States, sanctions against Brazil with the aim of obstructing the investigation for coup d'état against his father.
