The head of Government of Andorra, Xavier Espot, has emphasized to the members of the Business Council Alianza por Iberoamérica (CEAPI) that the association agreement between Andorra and the European Union goes beyond a “simple free trade agreement” and that, in reality, it opens the door to the country’s full participation in the European market.
Espot spoke this Friday, coinciding with the 30th Ibero-American Summit, at a business meeting framed within the cycle “Ibero-American Presidential Dialogues,” an initiative promoted by CEAPI, as the organization itself has detailed in an information note.
In addition, the head of Government has stressed that this agreement, recently signed and still pending ratification, establishes the “broadest and most cross-cutting” framework for relations that Andorra has ever achieved with the EU.
During his address, the Andorran leader highlighted the strengths of the Principality’s economy: a high level of security, competitive taxation, a free education system with three differentiated teaching models, and a diversification strategy oriented toward activities with higher added value.
A prosperous country and in economic expansion
In his speech, Espot presented Andorra as a “prosperous country, growing economically,” which distributes its wealth among citizens proportionally across the different sectors.
The president of CEAPI, Núria Vilanova, highlighted the leadership of Xavier Espot and Andorra’s ability to successfully face the challenges arising from its economic transformation process.
Lastly, CEAPI’s secretary, Ana Pastor, underscored Andorra’s Ibero-American vocation and its dual anchoring in Europe and Latin America, while also emphasizing the opportunity that the association with the EU represents for deepening and expanding its economic relations.
