The Central Command of the United States Army (CENTCOM) reported this Tuesday that its forces have carried out new bombings against targets of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard in various locations in Iranian territory, following the recent series of attacks executed by its troops on Larek Island.
Specifically, the military structure detailed that it has struck "air defense facilities, radar systems, maritime assets and facilities, mine-laying means, and communication facilities," as indicated by the Central Command itself in a statement released on social media, in which it declared the operation "completed."
CENTCOM had announced the start of this offensive at 12:00 hours (18:00 hours in mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands), emphasizing that these attacks "follow the recent attempts of attacks by the Revolutionary Guard against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and against U.S. service members deployed in the region."
Regarding this new escalation, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated that the Army is acting against "Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz" and issued a warning to Tehran: if it responds to a "fully justified attack" by Washington, it will receive "a new blow with much greater severity and intensity."
"These are large-scale and powerful attacks, carried out in retaliation for Iran's failed attempt to place naval mines in the strait, which is currently free of them -- they have been removed or completely detonated -- and for the launch of eight missiles, all successfully intercepted, against our military base in Jordan," the president stated on his social media.
The head of the White House also emphasized that "this will not be the largest of the attacks" carried out by the United States. "There is another waiting for its moment and, when it concludes, there will be very little left of the Islamic Republic of Iran," he added, hinting at a possible new phase of the military campaign.
In response, the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces has released a statement promising to impose "a heavy price on the American enemy" following explosions reported in the port city of Bandar Abbas and on Qeshm Island, according to information from the Iranian public broadcaster, IRIB.
"The more the U.S. terrorist Army insists on sowing chaos in the region, the greater and more serious the losses it will have to bear will be. We have repeatedly declared and determined that under no circumstances will we compromise the rights of the heroic Iranian nation and we will impose a high price on the U.S. enemy," the Iranian military body emphasized.
In the same vein, the spokesman for the Revolutionary Guard, Sardar Mohebi, assured in a message posted on social media that Washington "will regret its new attacks." "A severe punishment awaits the aggressors," he stressed.
Trump has repeatedly stated in recent months that Washington destroyed Iran's military capabilities during the offensive that began on February 28 alongside Israel, despite which clashes have remained sporadic, including an exchange of fire in recent hours.
The magnate had already indicated in statements to Fox News that U.S. forces would hit Iran "hard" for its recent attacks against U.S. targets in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), actions that Tehran justified as a response to Washington's bombings on Larak Island, the first in approximately a month.
Currently, CENTCOM estimates that there are "more than 50,000" U.S. military personnel deployed in the Middle East, who, according to the command, "remain alert and prepared" to respond "decisively" and continue "executing the operations ordered by the commander in chief."
