At least four people have lost their lives this Saturday after the helicopter they were traveling in crashed and ended up engulfed in flames in the town of Sainte-Brigide-d'Iberville, located in the southern area of Montreal, in the Canadian province of Quebec, according to local authorities.
The incident took place shortly after 2:30 PM (local time), when the aircraft fell to the ground near Rang des Écossais, a rural road.
According to the initial data provided by the security forces, the helicopter declared an emergency situation moments after takeoff and plunged violently to the ground, which triggered a subsequent fire that rescue teams managed to extinguish approximately an hour later.
Local authorities have indicated that the four occupants of the aircraft died on the spot and, for now, their identities have not been made public. The Police and security services have sent an investigation team to the accident site to clarify who the owner of the helicopter was, what its flight plan was, and what caused the incident.
