The Iranian Revolutionary Guard has acknowledged this Tuesday a new series of attacks directed against U.S. targets in the region, as retaliation for the recent bombings carried out by the U.S. Army in different areas of the country, mainly in enclaves near the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement, the Iranian force has indicated that "The brave fighters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have given a strong response to the aggressors and, in their first action, shot down the 50th advanced MQ-9 drone of the invading U.S. Army, equipped with the new aerospace defense system."
Tehran frames this reaction in the "blind" and "desperate" attacks launched by U.S. forces against various points of the southern Iranian coast, "including several civilian areas," actions that, it emphasizes, have "strengthened the determination" of the country to "crush foreign forces" deployed in the Strait of Hormuz.
Before this response, the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces had already warned that it would make the "U.S. enemy pay a high price" after explosions were recorded in the port city of Bandar Abbas, on Qeshm Island, at Jiroft Airport, in Kerman province, and in other points of Hormozgan province.
Likewise, detonations have occurred in the towns of Chabahar and Konarak, in the province of Sistan and Baluchestan, where at least four projectiles would have impacted, according to information released by the Iranian state news agency Mehr.
