The Iranian Revolutionary Guard has reported this Tuesday that at least three tankers have collided in the last few hours with naval mines while trying to cross the southern corridor of the Strait of Hormuz, reiterating at the same time its warnings about the use of this maritime passage "in cooperation with the invading Army of the United States".

In a statement released by its Navy, the corps has indicated that "since early this morning, three tankers that were sailing illegally in the Strait of Hormuz have exploded and caught fire, causing the fishermen in the eastern part of the strait to have experienced a luminous night".

The text adds that these ships "deactivated their navigation and identification systems and transited through unauthorized routes in the Strait of Hormuz", recalling that Tehran had already warned on multiple occasions that violating its rules and "collaborating with the invading Army of the United States" to cross the area "will entail an incident of this nature".

Likewise, the Revolutionary Guard has emphasized that "the reality of the situation in the Strait of Hormuz is the one you can observe, and not the one that the terrorist commander of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) -- in reference to Brad Cooper -- seeks to present by using archival images in cyberspace", according to what has been reported by the Iranian public television IRIB.

Tehran has insisted on repeated occasions that certain stretches of the southern route of the strait are sown with mines. For its part, CENTCOM maintains the opposite and states that the passage remains free of this type of explosive, guaranteeing the safe transit of hundreds of vessels through the area. In this line were also expressed last week the statements by Cooper, who stressed that the United States maintains control of the maritime passage.
