The Minister of Defense of Poland, Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, has confirmed the impact of the device, although he emphasized that "there has been no violation of Polish airspace." "Our air defense systems and aircraft were ready to intervene," he indicated, referring to the preventive deployment activated after the threat was detected.
As the minister himself detailed, the fighters "returned to their bases" once the immediate risk was ruled out and the air defense systems returned to "observation" mode after the alert was deactivated.
The spokesman for the Polish Armed Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Jacek Goryszewski, stated in remarks to the Polskie Radio broadcaster that several drone attacks were recorded over Ukrainian territory, which prompted the activation of security protocols, first with the warning to the Government and, subsequently, with the official communication to the population of the potentially affected areas.
As part of these measures, emergency sirens were sounded in various towns and cities in the Lublin region, in eastern Poland, while residents received alert messages on their mobile phones. The situation normalized and the alarm was canceled a little over 30 minutes later.
