The Italian authorities announced this Sunday the temporary closure of Catania Airport for all arrival and departure operations, due to the ash cloud thrown by Mount Etna.
According to the managing company of the aerodrome, SAC, and reported by several Italian media, the infrastructure will remain non-operational until 12:00 hours on Monday.
The combination of suspended volcanic ash and gusts of wind has led to the closure of the airspace corresponding to sector C1, according to the information provided by SAC, which recommends travelers check the status of their flight before heading to the airport.
