The BRICS, the alliance of emerging economies made up of Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, and other states, defended this Saturday in New Delhi, after a meeting of their leaders, the need to move towards a peaceful solution to international conflicts through dialogued and diplomatic means.
The signing countries "reiterate our commitment to the peaceful resolution of international disputes through dialogue, consultations, and diplomacy."
Likewise, they emphasize: "We call for a multilateral approach that respects the diverse perspectives and national positions on important and vital global issues," and especially demand "cooperation" to "maintain the flow of global trade, supply chains, and energy flow."
In this context, they express their "deep concern" over the escalation in the Middle East and request "maximum restraint" in the area, without explicitly referring to any country.
The disseminated text also includes a condemnation of "deliberate attacks on civilian infrastructure and peaceful nuclear facilities," in a new indirect reference to the tensions between the United States and Iran.
