The president of the United States, Donald Trump, has specified this Saturday that, for now, he does not plan to hold a meeting with the defeated presidential candidate in Brazil, Flávio Bolsonaro. Nevertheless, he has emphasized that the Brazilian politician is welcome in the country and that he can remain in U.S. territory "for as long as he wishes".

"I have no plans to meet with him, but I think they treated him very badly. He can stay here as long as he wants... The elections were a disgrace," Trump stated to journalists from his Mar a Lago residence, in the state of Florida.

Amid the controversy generated by Flávio's departure from Brazil, the Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, stated that the White House did not intervene "directly" in Flávio's departure nor facilitated his arrival in the United States.

In this way, it is framed as a personal decision by President Donald Trump, and not as a "direct" measure by the Executive Branch nor an involvement in each of the movements linked to Bolsonaro's escape from Brazil.

Bolsonaro and his family entered the United States last Wednesday, October 28, just three days after the second round of the presidential elections, in which he lost to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. He has authorization to remain for one year in the United States.
