The President of the United States, Donald Trump, said this Sunday that the outcome of the midterm legislative elections held last Tuesday represents a "gigantic step backward" for the country, and has already warned of the possible economic repercussions stemming from the victory of the Democratic Party.

"The United States took a gigantic step back in its history with the results of the last elections," Trump said in a message published on social networks, in which he has insisted that the change in the balance of political power will have immediate effects.

The president has particularly emphasized that the stock market recorded losses worth three million dollars in a single day, despite, according to his own words, that "with Trump it went like a rocket." After the clear results of Tuesday’s election, on Wednesday stock indexes rose, but on Thursday there were notable declines amid the market’s fear of an increase in regulation in the field of artificial intelligence and data centers.

In his message, Trump has tried to reassure his supporters and investors by saying: "But don’t be afraid. We will come back bigger and stronger than ever before!", thus reaffirming his confidence in a future economic and political recovery.

After his resounding victory in the midterm elections, the Democrats have moved on to control both the House of Representatives and the Senate, a situation that could complicate the president’s legislative agenda and prompt new parliamentary investigations into his management.
