Two Palestinians have lost their lives this Sunday in a new Israeli bombardment over the city of Jan Yunis, in the south of the Gaza Strip, despite the ceasefire that is formally in effect since October 2025. This attack adds to the extreme deterioration suffered by the population, already punished by severe floods.
Medical sources have reported that the attack took place in the western area of Jan Yunis, when a drone fired at a group of people who were near the Taiba Towers. The fatalities are a woman and a man, while several more people have been injured, according to what the official Palestinian news agency, WAFA, has reported.
In a separate incident, a university student identified as Basma Atef al Saksak has died this Sunday due to the severity of the injuries suffered in an Israeli bombardment of a shelter for displaced people located within the Jan Yunis campus last Tuesday.
The Gaza Health Ministry has stated in a communiqué that, since the ceasefire came into force, 1,610 deaths and 5,819 injured have been recorded as a result of Israeli attacks. In addition, 849 bodies have been recovered in areas from which Israeli troops had withdrawn.
The Ministry has also emphasized that, since the start of the offensive undertaken by Israel after the attacks of October 7, 2023 --which left about 1,200 dead and nearly 250 abducted, according to the official tally of the Israeli authorities--, 74,640 deaths and 175,947 injured have been recorded, reiterating its allegations regarding the continuation of Israeli attacks despite the ceasefire.
