The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, Félix Plasencia, had another phone conversation this Sunday with his Spanish counterpart, José Manuel Albares, in which he reiterated his recognition of Spain's willingness to collaborate in the reconstruction phase after the strong earthquakes of June 24 in the north of the country.
At the beginning of the week, Venezuelan authorities placed the number of fatalities caused by the two earthquakes, both of magnitude greater than 7 on the Richter scale, at 6,125, which also resulted in 60,992 injured people.
"Venezuela thanks the spirit of solidarity and willingness of the Government of Spain to accompany our country in this stage of reconstruction after the earthquakes," Plasencia noted on social media after the call, in which the two ministers also discussed bilateral issues and possible areas of cooperation within the framework of the relatively new political situation in Venezuela, now governed by the acting president Delcy Rodríguez after the capture of Nicolás Maduro in a U.S. operation.
Albares had already spoken last Friday with the head of Venezuelan diplomacy during his trip to the inauguration of Colombian President Abelardo De la Espriella, with the aim of addressing the preparations for the Ibero-American Summit in November in Madrid.
