The Yemeni executive recognized by the international community has communicated this Saturday that its forces have neutralized two drones launched by the Houthi militia headed for Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, according to military authorities.
"The air defenses have intercepted and destroyed two drones launched by the terrorist Houthi militia towards the Riyadh region," confirmed the official spokesperson of the Yemeni Armed Forces, Turki al Maliki, in a post on his social media.
In parallel, security forces have detected another unmanned device coming from southern Yemen that was heading towards Khamis Musahit, in southwestern Saudi Arabia, and have assured that it has also been shot down before reaching its target.
The Saudi Civil Defense has asked citizens, through its institutional channels, to maintain maximum alert, strictly follow security recommendations, and avoid gatherings of people in potentially affected areas.
A few hours ago, the United Nations Security Council condemned "in the strongest terms" the persistence of Houthi attacks against Saudi territory, demanding that the militia immediately cease hostilities against the population and civilian infrastructure.
The statement emphasized its total opposition to offensives against energy complexes and residential areas that have caused fatalities, and has positioned the defense of Saudi Arabia's territorial integrity and the recovery of freedom of commercial navigation as key priorities on the international security agenda.
