When the pensions of August 2026 are paid: the dates bank by bank

The collection of pensions for August is once again being advanced several days compared to the ordinary calendar of Social Security. Unicaja has already set the deposit for Friday, August 21, while other entities usually concentrate payments between the 24th and 25th.

August opens again one of the most repeated inquiries among pensioners: what day will the monthly payment appear in the bank account. Let us remember that these are dates for the August pension.

The Social Security establishes a general rule different from the advanced calendar that banks use. Once the first payment has been made, the monthly payments must be available on the first business day of the month in which the payment corresponds to be made and, in any case, before the fourth calendar day.

However, financial entities usually advance that money and make it available to their clients during the last days of the month prior to the administrative payment.

Unicaja will pay on Friday, August 21

Unicaja is one of the entities that has already published a specific annual calendar.

The entity sets the payment corresponding to August 2026 on Friday, the 21st. In previous and subsequent months, its calendar also generally fluctuates between the 21st and 23rd.

This advance does not modify the amount of the pension nor does it imply an additional payment. It is simply the date on which the bank advances the money to its clients.

CaixaBank, Santander, BBVA and the rest of the banks

In the rest of the large entities, the calendar normally concentrates between the 24th and 25th.

The useful reference for August is the following:

  • Unicaja: Friday, August 21, date published by the entity itself.
  • CaixaBank: around Monday, the 24th, following its usual advance policy.
  • Santander: usually between the 23rd and 25th.
  • BBVA: normally around the 25th.
  • Banco Sabadell: usually around the 25th.
  • ING: usually places the deposit around the 25th.

Ibercaja, Kutxabank, Cajamar, Abanca and other entities also maintain their own calendars that may vary depending on weekends and operational decisions.

The dates different from those expressly published by Unicaja should be understood as forecasts based on the usual calendars of each entity until each bank definitively confirms its August payment.

August does not have an extraordinary payment

Another point that generates doubts is whether the August monthly payment includes an extra payment. Generally speaking, no.

Pensions that are paid in 14 payments have two extraordinary monthly payments, one in June and another in November. Pensions derived from work accidents or occupational diseases are normally distributed in 12 monthly payments because the extraordinary payments are prorated.

What to do if the pension does not appear on the expected day

That another client has received the pension before does not necessarily mean that there is an incidence.

The first verification must be carried out with the bank itself because the advance depends on its commercial policy.

If the usual period passes and the deposit still does not appear, it is advisable to also check if there has been a recent change of bank account. Social Security reminds that a change communicated by the pensioner does not necessarily produce immediate effects and may apply from the second month after the request.

The key, therefore, is to differentiate the legal calendar of Social Security from the voluntary advances offered by banks.
