The president of Vox, Santiago Abascal, has directed harsh accusations this Monday against Begoña Gómez, wife of the head of the Executive, Pedro Sánchez, whom he attributes the commission of "crimes typical of a vulgar gang of scammers," while demanding that the institutions of the State be "independent."
Abascal has expressed himself in these terms after Judge Juan Carlos Peinado has agreed to open a trial with a jury against Gómez for alleged crimes of embezzlement and influence peddling. Following this judicial decision, the Vox leader has held Sánchez responsible for "dragging the seat of the Presidency of the Government to the dock for the first time in democracy."
Through a message disseminated on his profile on the social network X, the leader of Vox has censured that the reaction of the president of the Government is, in his opinion, "to threaten and coerce judges, like a vulgar gang of criminals."
"Spain does not deserve this mafia," Abascal has stated, who also considers it "necessary" that all institutions "defend and demonstrate their independence." "And that Spaniards defend our institutions," he concluded in his intervention.
