The president of the Congress, Francina Armengol, has ordered the spokesperson of the PP in the Interior Commission, Ana Belén Vázquez, to leave the hemicycle after she showed a can of pepper spray during the session, understanding that it is "a weapon" according to current regulations.
Vázquez took out the can in the middle of the debate with the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, reproaching him that the neighbors of Ceuta have been forced to use this type of device to protect themselves since the massive entry of immigrants recorded at the end of July.
After concluding the exchange of reproaches with the Minister of the Interior, Armengol called the deputy to order, referring to article 101 of the Congress Regulations, which prohibits displaying weapons in the Lower House, and emphasizing that, according to the Arms Registry, a can of pepper spray is classified as such.
"I ask you to leave the hemicycle and deposit what you have shown because this cannot be raised in the house of the sovereignty of the people and in the house of democracy. What we would not allow anyone to do in this house, a deputy who has to represent them cannot do," Armengol indicated.
