The spokesperson of the PP in Congress, Ester Muñoz, stated this Wednesday that in the Government there is a "civil war" due to the discrepancies between the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, and the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, regarding the supposed prior warnings from the Intelligence services about the crisis in Ceuta. In addition, she has held President Pedro Sánchez responsible for having returned from his vacation to "generate greater chaos" in the autonomous city.
Before the meeting of the Permanent Deputation of Congress, Muñoz criticized that the Executive has created a single command to coordinate all the involved administrations and that, on that same day, its members ended up "wrapped in an internal fight."
According to the PP leader, citizens are "astonished" at the situation and she described a "increasingly tense" climate in Ceuta, "where there are people who do not go out on the street, families who do not want to take their children to school, businesses that are closing, and a lack of investments."
Criticism of Sánchez's vacation and the lack of appearances
Muñoz emphasized that Sánchez returned from his break "25 days later," worked only one day, and caused "greater chaos" and "a battle between ministers in the Government of Spain." She also criticized that, after this, he is considering traveling to Andorra to continue with his vacation.
The spokesperson recalled that the PP requested on July 31 the extraordinary appearance of Sánchez, on August 5 the reactivation of the Commission of Official Secrets for Robles and the director of the CNI to attend, and the next day, the appearance of four ministers linked to the illegal entry of tens of thousands of immigrants in Ceuta on July 30 and 31.
Muñoz also condemned that the president of Congress delayed the call for the Permanent Deputation until the last week of August and interpreted that the Government has avoided giving explanations throughout the summer until its partners "have raised the pressure."
Finally, when asked about the changes announced by the Government in the asylum and immigration laws, the 'popular' spokesperson pointed out that the Executive has not contacted the PP. "They never call us for anything," she emphasized, before noting that her party will wait to know in detail the content of the proposed reforms.
