The president of the Partido Popular and candidate for the Presidency of the Government, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, and the president of the Junta de Andalucía and PP-A leader, Juanma Moreno, participated this Sunday in a pre-campaign event in Málaga for the general elections of next 29 November. During the meeting, both leaders called for mobilizing the vote against the Government of Pedro Sánchez and asked for the support of citizens dissatisfied with the PSOE.
The event, held at the Ciudad Deportiva de Carranque, also had the participation of the PP’s vice-secretary for Autonomous and Municipal Policy, Elías Bendodo, the party’s provincial chairwoman, Patricia Navarro, and the mayor of Málaga, Francisco de la Torre.
Moreno urged the «disappointed and ashamed» Socialist voters to go to the polls in order to bring about a political change. The president of Andalusia defended that Spain needs to change the direction of the Executive and appealed to «honesty», «civility» and «patriotism» to justify his call.
Moreno links railway accidents to the Government’s management
A prominent part of the intervention by the president of Andalusia focused on the railway accidents in Adamuz and Urda, which, as he pointed out, left 115 fatalities. Moreno expressed his «anger» about the Urda incident and argued that it could have been avoided if the available technical safety mechanisms had been applied on other high-speed lines.
The popular leader also questioned the condition of the railway infrastructure and denounced that the Madrid-Andalusia corridor maintained a security system that, according to his statements, had not been updated for three decades.

In this context, he has referred to research into alleged irregularities in contracts linked to the security and modernization of the rail corridor. Moreno has demanded that it be clarified whether the European funds allocated for these actions were used to improve the infrastructure.
Criticism of the Government over funding and Andalusian infrastructures
The president of the regional government has also accused the central Executive of maintaining a situation of “neglect and punishment” toward Andalusia. Among his criticisms, he cited incidents in the electricity supply in Málaga, the lack of investment in roads, and the absence of new Cercanías routes.
Moreno has also criticized the regional financing model and has argued that the system proposed by the Government harms Andalusia to the benefit of Catalonia. According to his calculations, the community would stop receiving 4,000 million euros per year.
“Andalusians deserve what they contribute,” he said, before attributing the alleged unequal treatment to the fact that the community has chosen the PP overwhelmingly in the most recent election calls.
Feijóo calls for a change of Government
For his part, Feijóo has continued his pre-campaign tour with a message focused on management and the need for political change. The Popular Party leader has defended his experience at the head of the Xunta de Galicia and has said that his project will be aimed at solving the country’s problems.
The PP candidate has also promised to review “every sleeper, one by one” of Spain’s rail network and has criticized the management of the Executive after the latest accidents.
The Málaga event is part of the Partido Popular’s pre-campaign agenda ahead of the general elections on 29 November. Feijóo is seeking to expand his electoral support and has again addressed socialist voters who, according to the PP, are dissatisfied with the Government’s actions.
