The president of the PP and candidate for the Presidency of the Government, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has assured this Wednesday that he is “very aware of the criticisms” that they hurl at him “sometimes,” such as that he is “boring,” that he does not share lists on Spotify, or that he is not “capable” of dancing at rallies. As he has emphasized, he is not standing in the elections to “entertain Spain,” but to “serve” the citizens.

During an information forum organized by “La Razón,” Feijóo insisted that Spain needs “management, rigor, experience, traceability and accountability” because the reconstruction of the country is “necessary” and “urgent.” In his view, “what needs to be changed, therefore, is management. And what needs to be changed is Pedro Sánchez,” he said, stressing that the railway disasters in Adamuz and Urda have shown that “bad management has a cost and nepotism also.” In his judgment, Pedro Sánchez’s departure from the Moncloa is essential because the current situation will not be resolved by “four more years of those who have generated this chaos.” “The gentleman Puente left, but Sánchez stayed,” he recalled, referring to the resignation of the Transport minister.

Criticism of his profile and of social media

Feijóo then addressed some of the “criticisms” that, as he indicated, he receives “sometimes.” “I’ve heard that I’m very boring. I want to tell them that those who see this are perfect disinformers. But, well, not everyone has the chance to get to know me, but I hope that every day they get to know me more,” he stressed.

The popular leader added that he is also reproached for making “too many proposals on matters that do not capture media attention,” citing as an example the PP infrastructure plan which, he highlighted, would have “minimized the possibilities of what has happened in Spain.” He also pointed out: “I’ve also heard that I’m losing on social media because others recommend Spotify lists while they invade our country,” to remember that, when there was a massive arrival of immigrants to Ceuta, he went “to the invaded area” and didn’t go on vacation.

As he related, it is also said that he is “losing in rallies” because he is not “capable of either dancing or kissing” his partner. “And that is also true. However, I don’t lie, I don’t steal, and I don’t go on vacation when they invade my country,” he asserted.

Darts at Sánchez and a defense of his management model

On this line, he has stressed that for him politics "is not a joke". "While some were concerned about the show, I am concerned about the project that is called Spain. I do not present myself to entertain Spain; I present myself to serve Spain. It is what I know how to do, and it is what Spain needs," he has proclaimed.

Feijóo has stated that "the balance of these years is devastating" because the "beneficiaries" have been those who have found with the Government of Pedro Sánchez "protection, privileges and political concessions": "The corrupt, the incompetent, the ETA members, those convicted for sedition, and those who promote the invasion of Spanish cities." In his view, this situation "cannot go on like this" and it is time to react and make decisions, since Spain "needs management", "rigor" and "experience" to carry out the national reconstruction that, he has emphasized, the country demands.

At this point, he has advocated recovering decency, merit and ability, surrounding himself with "effective managers and honest people"; for knowing in detail the reality of the State, for which he has announced a general audit of the spending of these years and another on the condition of infrastructures in order to "reset the system"; and for ordering priorities, placing the budget as the main management tool.

Feijóo has considered "very significant" that there are analysts who ask him "what will be Sánchez's last trick to cling to power", something which, in his view, "says a lot about the deterioration in confidence in Spanish politics and in the confidence in the Government itself".
