The president of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, has attributed to the majority union of train drivers, Semaf, the responsibility for the strike this Wednesday in Rodalies, emphasizing that the safety of the tracks "is not a subjective issue."
"There has been a union that has not made the trains run," he pointed out, insisting that railway safety cannot be determined by the train drivers, but by the agencies responsible for the infrastructures. Illa made these statements during the control session of the Govern in the Parlament, in response to a question from the president of Junts in the Chamber, Mònica Sales.
"The safety of the tracks is not a subjective issue. And it is not in the hands of any union. It is in the hands of the agencies that have the responsibility to say it," the president reiterated, reinforcing the idea that it is the competent bodies that must determine the safety conditions.
Illa has assured that work is already underway to gradually restore the Rodalies service and return to normal as soon as possible.
Likewise, he pointed out that the Govern will investigate "what happened" in relation to the strike called by Semaf, a union that, despite being alluded to several times, Illa did not explicitly mention during his speech in the hemicycle.
