The general secretary of the PSPV and socialist candidate for the Presidency of the Generalitat, Diana Morant, has urged to go "to win" the Valencian Community in the regional elections of 2027 and has appealed to "hope" in the face of a PP that "governs against the people," emphasizing that she does not "resign" and that she will continue working to "recover what matters."
Morant delivered this message at the closing of the Political Conference that the PSPV held this weekend in Alicante under the slogan "Recover what matters." The leader arrived this Sunday accompanied by the mayors and socialist candidates from municipalities with more than 20,000 inhabitants, along with the Minister of Finance, Arcadi España, and amid the applause of hundreds of militants and supporters.
The socialist leader has announced that, if she accesses the Palau de la Generalitat after the elections, her first decision as president will be "to open the windows, lift the carpets, and open the drawers so that light, fresh air, and dignity come in" and has promised an executive "that governs for and by the people," focused on "what keeps families awake at night when they turn off the lights: housing, education, and healthcare."
Housing and vulture funds
Regarding housing, she has warned that there is no room for "half measures" and has advanced that, as president of the Consell, she will intervene in the market and limit rental prices. Likewise, she has promised to build more housing and protect it "forever," with the aim of preventing public protection housing from being "distributed" among PP leaders, citing the case of Les Naus in Alicante.
"We will be the first anti-vulture fund community," Morant has proclaimed, who has issued a warning to the "vultures" that profit from housing: "They should look for another." "Housing is a right, and there will be no houses without people nor people without houses," she has assured.
Public healthcare and education
Regarding healthcare, she has committed to ending waiting lists, strengthening staff to attend "more and better," expanding facilities, and keeping hospitals "open all day." "It’s over that they close at 2 in the afternoon, it’s over that floors close in summer," she has pointed out, also advancing a law so that "public healthcare can never again be privatized and the money goes to the usual friends."
In education, Morant has announced a "law of equity" that protects the system from early childhood to university and has set two "urgent" measures for the 2027-2028 school year: lowering ratios and increasing staff. In addition, she has defended "restarting" the Edificant Plan "and not only" for the municipalities governed by the PSPV: "We will not do like them --the PP--, who are sectarians."
She has also detailed that she will promote a plan to guarantee "sufficient" places in Vocational Training and university and has lamented that for "too many years" certain professions, such as judges and prosecutors, have been "occupied by the children of those who have full pockets."
Autonomous financing and criticism of the PP
Morant has emphasized that to fulfill these promises, the Comunitat Valenciana needs "more money," but she has valued that now "finally" there is a proposal for a new financing model. Therefore, she has asked the PP to assume the position of the president of the Valencian Association of Entrepreneurs (AVE), Vicente Boluda, whom she has reminded is "not suspected of being a red communist."
In this context, she has reproached the representatives of the Consell for saying "in private" that "hopefully the reform is approved" and, for this reason, has accused the 'popular' of "leaving people stranded," as, in her opinion, happened with the pandemic, the energy crisis, or the situation in Ceuta. "This land has plenty of talent, capacity, and potential, but above all it lacks the Consell that has left us abandoned," she has denounced.
After listening to associations of victims of the dana, Morant has committed to taking responsibility for "healthcare, housing, education, and the safety of the people." "Because being in politics means taking charge of life, of the problems, and of the solutions that people need," she has added.
"Nothing ends" and new party culture
Diana Morant has emphasized that, after this Political Conference, "nothing ends, but rather the task we have to do tomorrow and the day after begins anew" and, for this, she has said she needs "an army, a membership, and an activism that from today does not stop guaranteeing to the people that here we have a project and that we are the only party in the Comunitat Valenciana that can bring together all its mayors, that is united around a leadership and that is talking about what matters to people and that we have a project."
"My priority is in the Comunitat Valenciana, because it is the land I want, because I grew up here, because I have spent the best moments of my life here and, above all, because the best moments of the lives of Valencians remain and I will be there to make it possible," she emphasized.
Contrast with Mazón and Pérez Llorca
In this context, the socialist candidate has contrasted her model with that of the 'president' of the Generalitat, Juanfran Pérez Llorca: "He says to call 'Génova' and refers to --the leader of the PP Alberto Núñez-- Feijóo. I refer to you, you have made me a candidate and you are going to make me president. That is why I sign that social contract here, in Alicante, not 300 kilometers" from the Comunitat.
"We, the Valencian socialists, sign it, with autonomy, freedom, and the ability to decide on our own project," defended Morant, who assured that she does not want to enter the Palau de la Generalitat "like the last PP presidents, with a pact signed with the deniers of Vox on a napkin like --Carlos-- Mazón, nor after a meal in a private room among the bosses of each of the provinces like Pérez Llorca."
In the same vein, she stated that, after the Political Conference in Alicante, "a new party culture and a new way of governing" begins that "listens, accepts criticism, and provides solutions to real problems, does not go around blaming others."
Alfaro: "Look to the future with hope"
The general secretary of the PSPV in the province of Alicante, Rubén Alfaro, has introduced Diana Morant as the "next president of the Generalitat," encouraged socialist candidates to govern the municipalities of the Comunitat Valenciana starting in 2027, and called to "look to the future with hope." "We are ready to govern and we are going to achieve it," he stated.
The also mayor of Elda has highlighted the choice of the province, and specifically the Faculty of Education of the University of Alicante, to host the Political Conference, recalling the "days of struggle of the teachers claiming their rights and the improvement of public education" in recent months and advocating education as a driver for "the transformation of societies."
In addition, he has accused the PP of wanting to "rewrite history" with "total impunity," he has criticized the "alternative facts" that, he said, the 'popular' encourage in their "cultural battle" over historical memory and has warned the party and the "far-right" of Vox: "Socialists, progressives, and leftist people will never abandon the people." For this reason, Alfaro has demanded "dignity, respect, and shame" from both formations and has demanded that they stop "boycotting laws."
