The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has this Thursday held a bilateral meeting with the Chilean leader, José Antonio Kast, taking advantage of the margins of the XXX Ibero-American Summit taking place in Madrid.
As sources from Moncloa told Europa Press, the meeting was requested by the Chilean delegation. The same sources have also pointed to a subsequent appointment between Sánchez and the President of the European Council, the Portuguese António Costa.
During his address at the summit plenary session, Kast called for “moving forward together” and demanded that international cooperation help to leave behind “historical differences” in the region.
“We have many more issues in common that we can resolve together than differences that can divide us,” the head of the Chilean State said, who took on the country’s Presidency last March.
As with most of the leaders who spoke in the plenary session, Kast conveyed his condolences to Spain for those who died in the rail accident that occurred last week in Urda (Toledo), which left 69 fatalities.
