The Congress of Deputies' Board plans to give the green light to the definitive withdrawal of the press accreditation of the political 'influencer' Vito Quiles, after accumulating several files for behaviors classified as serious infractions.
Vito Quiles, who appeared as a candidate on the European list of 'Alvise' Pérez and participated in a closing campaign event of the PP of Aragón, was already punished last May with a three-month suspension of his press credential for a double serious infraction. In that case, he recorded and disseminated on social media images of former president José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero in parliamentary premises without having the required authorization.
The provisional sanction for the withdrawal of the accreditation was agreed upon by the representatives of the PSOE and Sumar in the Congress Board, against the PP's rejection of the regulation reform that allowed the promotion of this type of disciplinary procedures.
Since that first sanction, the Chamber has continued processing new files as a result of complaints filed, mostly by different parliamentary groups and, in some cases, by the Association of Parliamentary Journalists (APP).
Quiles, who works for the digital newspaper 'Estado de Alarma', had accumulated at least six complaints, which were supported by the Advisory Council of Political Communication (CCCP), a body created in the last regulatory reform in which only political parties have the right to vote.
According to parliamentary sources who spoke to Europa Press, several of those files have already been resolved and the instructing lawyers lean towards the definitive withdrawal of the press credential "given the seriousness of the described behaviors" and "the confirmation that the sanctioned has shown a clear willingness to very seriously disrupt the normal functioning of the Chamber and the proper performance of the functions of other accredited media representatives."
The final resolution will correspond to the Congress Board, where PSOE and Sumar have a majority, and everything indicates that the permanent withdrawal could be approved this Tuesday. In any case, a period of 15 days will be granted to the sanctioned to present his allegations.
