The arrival of people in Ceuta from Morocco continued uncontrollably into the night this Thursday, as confirmed by Europa Press on the ground. Since the early hours of the morning, thousands of migrants have reached the autonomous city both by swimming and walking, skirting the breakwater that marks the separation from Moroccan territory.
Early in the afternoon, the Ministry of the Interior announced that it had reached an agreement with Morocco to proceed with the return "as soon as possible" of "all" migrants who had entered Ceuta irregularly. In parallel, military units have been deployed in the border area alongside the Civil Guard and also at various points in the city to reinforce security.
During the afternoon, part of the local commerce opted to temporarily close, as confirmed by Europa Press. Among the establishments that have ceased their activity are the Parques de Ceuta Shopping Center, Día and Carrefour supermarkets, as well as the chains Kiabi and MGI.
The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, is scheduled to travel to Ceuta this Friday, July 31, accompanied by the Minister of the Interior, with the aim of addressing the migration crisis triggered in the autonomous city by the uncontrolled entry of thousands of people from Morocco.
In a message disseminated on 'X', Sánchez stated that the Executive is preparing together with Morocco the "necessary measures" to "recover normality" in Ceuta, and it is expected that the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, will also travel to the city this Friday to coordinate the management of the situation.
Throughout the afternoon of this Thursday, the Civil Guard has confirmed the identification of seven deceased persons in the sea. In the morning, Maritime Rescue had located another body, and in the afternoon of Wednesday, two more lifeless bodies were found.
