The leadership of the PSOE in Córdoba has stated this Thursday that the Córdoba socialist member Cristian Corvillo, arrested by the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Guardia Civil and whom the PP links as the driver of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, during the PSOE primaries of 2017, “holds no organizational or institutional position in representation of the PSOE, beyond his membership as a rank-and-file member of the party.”
In a statement sent to the media, the PSOE in Córdoba has said that it has “learned through the press the news of Corvillo’s arrest” by the UCO of the Guardia Civil, “within the framework of a new line of investigation related to the Koldo case ordered by the National Court, in collaboration with the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.”
Likewise, from the provincial federation they have insisted that “the businessman Cristian Corvillo” appears only as a rank-and-file member of the party, a “designation” on which “the Provincial Directorate would act accordingly, in light of the conclusions that emerge from the investigation opened and from the judicial procedure in progress, currently under court secrecy.”
Along these lines, the PSOE of Córdoba has emphasized that “affiliation with a political party in Spain is regulated as a fundamental right in the Spanish Constitution,” and it has clarified that “the opening of a disciplinary file for expulsion is stipulated in the PSOE in cases of final conviction for serious offenses, especially those linked to corruption, violence, discrimination, and violations of our code of ethics,” as set out in its internal bylaws.
