The PSOE has decided to suspend the pre-campaign event scheduled for this Thursday, October 29, in Vitoria, in which the President of the Government and candidate for reelection, Pedro Sánchez, was to take part, according to sources from Ferraz.
The Socialist party is taking this decision after the railway accident recorded this Wednesday in the province of Toledo, where two high-speed trains have collided and which, for the moment, has resulted in 10 dead and numerous injured.
In addition to this rally, the party has canceled all the events it had scheduled for the day and says it remains awaiting official information on the accident, which occurred shortly before 9 in the morning.
In this context, the deputy general secretary, María Jesús Montero, says she is "shocked" by the "serious accident" and has conveyed her affection and solidarity with the victims in these very difficult moments, according to a message on X, collected by Europa Press.
"Now, all the attention of the emergency services is focused on the affected people and on the assistance tasks. We remain very attentive to the evolution of the situation and to the news that continues to reach us," she has indicated.
The 'number three', Rebeca Torró, also says she is "shocked" by the accident and says that the PSOE is suspending its agenda because now the priority is "to attend to the emergency". "All my support and recognition for the professionals working on the ground he has indicated". "My heart and my thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones," she has pointed out.
