The Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Víctor Torres, has urged avoiding hasty judgments and relying only on “verified” information regarding the records that the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Guardia Civil is keeping as part of the proceedings related to former minister José Luis Ábalos. He has stressed that conclusions should not be reached until the inquiries are completed.
In statements made to the media, he has recalled that both the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and he himself have already publicly expressed their position on this matter, and he has again emphasized the advisability of respecting the course of the investigations without interference.
Torres has emphasized the need for the information that is disseminated to be “truthful,” transparent, and “verified,” warning of the risk of falling into a spiral of “hoaxes, slander, lies, fallacies, insults, and libel.” “That is very dangerous. I know what I’m referring to,” he said, calling for prudence in public debate.
Finally, he has reiterated his absolute respect for Justice and has defended that the investigations must continue to the end, so that, if any illegality is established, the responsible persons assume the corresponding consequences.
