The spokesperson for Podemos and candidate to lead the candidacy for the City Council of Madrid, Pablo Fernández, argues that the debate on expropriation "is yielding results" after the company Urbagestión, owner of the apartment from which Maricarmen was evicted last Wednesday, proposed to the City Council that this housing be integrated into a municipal program.
Fernández has spread a message on social media in which he states: "Point them out, spread their names, and talk about expropriation. Here is the result. Cowardly miserable people act like this."
In response to the housing access crisis, Podemos has defended the expropriation of 650,000 properties in the hands of financial entities and investment funds with the aim of allocating them to social rent.
Earlier, the Minister of Social Rights, Consumption, and Agenda 2030, Pablo Bustindy, had stated that Urbagestión has "gained social awareness" after the possibility of expropriating their housing was put on the table.
