The Minister of the Sea, Marta Villaverde, held a meeting this Wednesday with representatives of Grupo Santander and Pesca Ecoprom, led by Luis Antonio Santander, along with Argentine deputy Juan Pablo Luque.
The meeting took place in the institutional space of the Xunta during the Conxemar fair in Vigo. In this context, the delegation from Patagonia presented the current reality of the activity in the Southwestern Atlantic fishing ground and expressed interest in the procedures and management models applied by the Galician maritime-fishing sector.
In a statement, the Galician Government indicated that the meeting generally addressed the commercial relations that both territories usually maintain in fishing matters.
According to the Xunta, Galicia concentrates nearly 80% of the volume and value of Argentine-origin fishery products that enter the Spanish market, with more than 38,500 tons recorded so far this year. These mainly include species such as shrimp and hake, intended for both marketing and industrial processing.
