The President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated this Wednesday that he was unaware that two of his advisors were collaborating with pro-Russian political formations of the Republic of Srpska, the Serb-Bosnian entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and assured that he will remove them from his circle immediately if it is confirmed that there is a conflict of interest.
The mentioned advisors are Chris LaCivita and James Blair, mentioned in a report by the newspaper "The New York Times" for having each received hundreds of thousands of dollars through a law firm based in Washington, hired by the Government of the Republic of Srpska to provide electoral advice ahead of the elections held last weekend.
According to data from the Department of Justice cited by the American media, the Executive of the Republic of Srpska has disbursed more than four million dollars to lobbyists and agents linked to Trump since the beginning of last year.
It is worth remembering that the American president decided last year to lift the sanctions imposed on the already ousted Serb-Bosnian leader and close ally of Moscow, Milorad Dodik, for disobeying the High Representative Christian Schmidt, responsible for overseeing the implementation of the peace agreements that ended the war in Bosnia.
In a message disseminated on his social networks, Trump emphasized that LaCivita and Blair are "external advisors" who are not part of his direct team. "They are most likely to have many clients, so you would have to ask them, and they can work for other people, like many other advisors in Washington D.C.," Trump added.
"I have no idea who else they work for but I will ask them and, if there is a conflict, I will fire both of them immediately," promised the President of the United States.
