The new campaign for the use of the bou de vara art and the rapeta or bou de mano art will begin this Monday, November 2, and will extend until March 31, 2027, including both dates.
The Official Gazette of Galicia (DOG) includes this Friday the management plan, in which only those vessels that have the bou de vara art or the bou de mano art authorized in their exploitation permit may participate.
The use of the bou de vara will be restricted exclusively to the area of the ría de Arousa. In contrast, the use of the rapeta or bou de mano will be allowed in the rías of Arousa, Pontevedra and Vigo.
These gear types may be used from Monday to Friday, between 8:00 and 14:30 hours. However, the use of these techniques for catching the French spider crab or conguito "Liocarcinus corrugatus" will be nocturnal, from dusk until dawn.
When these gear types are used in areas with marine farming plots, a sufficient distance must be respected to avoid any impact on the ropes of the mussel rafts.
In free shellfish gathering banks, these gear types may only be used at depths greater than 10 meters. In addition, the maximum power of the boats that work with these gear types may not exceed 50 HP.
