The Governing Council gave the green light this Friday to an outlay of almost 34 million euros to put out to tender five wastewater treatment actions in the provinces of Almería, with almost 9.7 million euros, and Huelva, with around 24.3 million euros.

According to the Junta reported in a note, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development has promoted these initiatives, which will improve the treatment system for discharges from three municipalities in Almería (Albox, Lúcar and Alcóntar) and two in Huelva (Ayamonte and El Rompido).

In the province of Almería, it is planned to allocate around 7.5 million euros to tender the construction of the discharge aggregation and a wastewater treatment plant (EDAR) for several districts of Albox; and just over one million euros for the commissioning of the same infrastructure for Lúcar and its hamlets. In addition, in the town of Alcóntar it is planned to promote a new EDAR that will also involve an investment of more than one million euros.

As for the municipalities of Huelva, the plan contemplates the expansion of two already existing treatment plants. For the improvement of the EDAR in Ayamonte, the tender budget exceeds 16.8 million euros; and in the El Rompido treatment plant it is planned to invest just over 7.4 million euros.

All these actions in the water sector have been declared of interest to the Autonomous Community of Andalusia and are financed from the improvement levy. As for the execution period of the projects and investments, the Junta de Andalucía has considered that it will run from 2027 to 2029.
